My goal with Tallahassee Fair was to juxtaposition the bleek, violent feel of the original game with what is usually considered a fun, happy environment, a small town fair. I specificaly focused on the feeling of the environment, the sound and the lighting, to heighten the player's tension. In this effort, I worked with grey, purple, green and brown colored lighting, which provided brightness through color values that suggest darkness. I also added barrels with fire inside as thematically appropriate light sources at key structural areas.
A major breakthrough in the development of this map was when I wrote the kismet sequence that controls a drone gunner and spotter at the far end of the map. This element added additional lighting while staying within theme and adding some fun gameplay. As development continued, I added a sequence where Dom, while mounting the troika gun, will fire on targets at which the player directs the spotlight.
